Extra CTA buses and 'L' trains will serve the 15th Annual Chicago Gospel Festival Friday, June 11, through Sunday, June 13 in Grant Park. Performances will be held at the Petrillo Music Shell, on Jackson at Columbus Drives, all three evenings.
Awaiting riders southbound on Michigan at Jackson at the close of each evenings performances will be extra buses on the #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove and #6 Jeffery Express routes ready to head south to their regular terminals.
Also during the Gospel Festival, #6 Jeffery Express buses will continue operating from downtown until 10:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday evenings, instead of starting their final trips around 7 p.m. (#6 buses regularly serve downtown on weekdays until 10:30 p.m.)
From 7 until 10:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday nights, #6 buses will leave the terminal at Columbus and South Water about every 15 minutes. Due to the Celebrate on State weekend celebration being held at the same time, #6 buses will operate south through the Loop on Clark instead of State from Wacker to Congress before returning to the regular route via Congress, Michigan, Balbo and Columbus to Lake Shore Drive.
Also serving the Gospel Festival, Red Line 'L' trains will operate through the State Street subway every seven minutes instead of 10 minutes apart on Saturday night from about 8:30 p.m. until 11 p.m., and on Sunday night from about 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.
